Live Art Advisory Network LAAN

We work with Artsadmin and The Live Art Development Agency as the Live Art Advisory Network, contributing to the Creative Capital network, running quarterly Talking Shop open advisory sessions for artists, and collaborating on online resources. The organisations offer distinct but complementary professional development opportunities. From 2012, LAAN plans to offer three Talking Shop events each year outside London, in collaboration with regional partners or events.

Live Art UK (LAUK)

We are a founding member of LAUK, a national network of 21 organisations who share expertise and resources to support the Live Art infrastructure for the benefit of artists and audiences. Since the completion of a GFA-funded programme in 2008, LAUK has continued to deliver projects with a focus on advocacy, lobbying, research and representation at a national level. We now propose to establish a formal infrastructure for LAUK, with the network coordinated by the Live Art Development Agency. A full proposal forms part of the Agency’s NPO application.

Visual Arts UK (VAUK)

We are a member of an alliance of national bodies that aims collectively to be an influential voice for the visual arts with a focus on advocacy, lobbying, research and representation at a national level for the benefit of artists and audiences.

Colchester Arts Centre

NWN and Colchester Arts Centre are supporting artist, Caroline Wright to design and deliver a 2 year programme of professional development activity for artists and arts professionals in the East region. It’s aim is to lessen the impact that the region’s geography has on the development of artists by advancing peer support, networks and dialogue across the region.

This forms part of a commissioned programme of activity created by Caroline Wright on behalf of New Work Network’s national Activator programme and Colchester Arts Centre’s Escalator: Live Art

Artquest

NWN and Artquest are working in partnership to develop a project called Mixing it up: An Intergenerational Perspective – a series of 5 short films, each documenting dialogues between 2 artists from different generations, exploring how they have sustained their practices over the years and how we can, through an intergenerational dialogue, look at the past to influence the future.

Artists include: Stefan Szczelkun in conversation with Robbie Lockwood; Richard Layzell with Hunt & Darton; Jordan Mc Kenzie with Ellie Harrison; Barby Asante with Sonia Boyce; Fiona Templeton with Yoko Ishiguro. Films will be available online through  both NWN and Artquest websites in April 2012.
